1. Place your left thumb behind neck and left index finger on extreme right wire just behind 7th fret from top. There should be metal to metal contact of wire and fret.

This is Sa (Do in western music). Pluck Da on it

2. Pluck Ra on 8th Fret. This is Re (Re in western music)

3. Pluck Da on 10th Fret. This is Ga(Mi in western music)

4. Pluck Ra on 11th Fret. This is Ma (Fa in western music)

5. Pluck Da on 13th Fret. This is Pa (So in western music)

6. Pluck Ra on 14th Fret. This is Dha (La in western music)

7. Pluck Da on 16th Fret. This is Ni (Ti in western music)

8. Pluck Ra on 17th Fret. This is Sa(.) (Do. in western music)

Pluck Da and then Ra alternateny in reverse order from Sa. to Sa
